Connect with Ease: How to Use Remote Desktop App on Windows 7 to Access a PC

One of the concerns of today’s users is to be able to access their computers and operating system remotely. The solution is to activate Remote Desktop.

Using this feature, you can easily see the desktop of your system and use it just like your own desktop.

In this article we want to explain how to use Remote Desktop app to connect to a PC on Windows 7.

1. First, you need to make sure that you have all the criteria for remote connection on your computer.

2. Open the Start option in the left corner of your computer.

3. Go to the Control Panel.

4. View by option is on the right side of the screen, put it on the Large icon.

5. Select the System.

6. In the upper left corner of the window, click on Remote Settings.

7. At the top of the window, check the Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer box.

8. In the middle of the pop-up window, check the Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop box.

Note: By doing this step, you can connect to it in the future from any computer that has remote desktop capabilities, such as a computer that has Windows 8.

9. It is possible to add more users. If you want to allow access to another user account on your computer in the remote desktop feature, you must click on Add users.

10. Select the Add.

11. Select the Advanced.

12. Press Find Now.

13. Scroll down in the pane at the bottom of the window and double-click the name of the user you want to add.

14. Select the OK on the top two open windows.

15. In order to apply the user addition settings to your system, click on the OK option at the bottom of the window.

Allowing Remote Desktop

1. In the upper left corner of the screen, click on Control Panel Home option

2. In the list of Control Panel options, select Windows Firewall.

3. In the upper-left corner of the screen, click Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall.

4. Click Change Settings at the top of the page.

5.  Scroll down and check the Remote Desktop box.

6. In order for the changes to be applied to your system, click on the OK option at the bottom of the page.

Finding the Target Computer’s Address

1. Find your router’s IP address.

2. Click on the browsers on your computer, for example, double-click on the Chrome browser.

3. Open WhatIsMyIP.

4. Go to https://www.whatismyip.com/ in the target computer’s web browser.

5. At the top of the page, next to the Your Public IPv4 is heading, find your computer’s public IP address

6. Log out of the target computer.

7. Click on Start.

8. Select the Image titled Android7dropright.png.

9. Icon in the bottom-right corner of the Start menu, and click Log off

10. At this point, you’re free to proceed with connecting to your target computer with a different Windows 7 computer.

Connecting via Remote Desktop

1.Go to the Start.

2. Select the search bar.

3. Type in remote desktop to do so.

4. Select the Remote Desktop Connection.

5. Enter the IP address you need

6. Select the Computer text box in the middle of the Remote Desktop window, then type in the target computer’s public IP address.

7. At the bottom of the window, click on the Connect option.

8. Enter the login credentials for the target computer.

9. At the bottom of the window, click OK.

10. Doing so connects your computer to the target computer, though it may take several minutes for the connection to finalize; once you see the other computer’s desktop appear in Remote Desktop, you’re free to peruse your remote computer as you please.
