System Restore is one of the features of Windows that you can use to restore your computer to a previous date when Windows was working correctly and without problems.

Most of the time, the reason for your computer not working correctly can be one of these three things: changes made by you or installed software in necessary Windows settings, malware, or hardware problems.

System Restore is a limited but innovative tool to solve the problem, although it cannot eliminate viruses or malware, if your problem is a result of changing the system settings, you can use it to restore your PC and Return when it was correct.

System Restore creates restore points from the system at any time, after updating Windows and installing new software, or any time you want to make a restore point.

Restore points and save your system settings when you create them. System Restore doesn’t change your files it just might remove some newly installed software and drivers.

So it’s better to create a restore point before doing any risky work, which you think may lead to Windows being damaged so that you don’t run into problems later.

Windows 8 System Restore with Refresh Your PC

1.To display the Choose Opinion window, you can hit (Shift+F8+F12) or (Alt+F10) keys after clicking the power button.

Faster way: If you have the possibility to boot into Windows 8, you can hit Shift and then select the reset button to bring up the Choose Opinion window.

2. Click on Troubleshoot.

3. Select Refresh your PC.

You can reinstall Windows 8 to keep the files in the system and also to restore the system to a normal state.

Factory Reset from Boot in Windows 8

1.To display the Choose Opinion window, you can hit (Shift+F8+F12) or (Alt+F10) keys after clicking the power button.

2. Click on Troubleshoot.

3. Select Reset your PC.

4. Choose Next.

5. Click on Just remove my files.

6. You can choose the Reset button to factory reset Windows 8 from boot.

Note: in this method, all information in the system will be deleted, and Windows 8 will return to factory settings.

System Restore Command in Windows 8

If you can boot into Windows 8 operating system, you can use the following steps to restore.

Follow the steps below:

1. Enter cmd in the Windows 8 search box.

2. Right click Command Prompt.

3. Select Run as administrator

4. Type the following command, then run it.


The Windows 8 system restore window will be displayed, then tick the Recommended restore option.

5. Click on Next.

6. Confirm the your restore point.

7. Select Finish.

8. To continue Windows 8 system restore select Yes.

Windows 8 System Restore with Windows Installation Disc

Apart from the above method, you can boot into the Windows 8 media and go to the advanced boot options.

Its steps are mentioned below:

1.At the Choose an option window, select Troubleshoot.

2. Click on Advanced options.

3. In the list, click System Restore.

4. Once you have completed the steps and System Restore is finished, you will be asked to select an account to continue, then enter the password of the version you selected.

5. Select Next to continue.

6. Make sure that the Choose a different restore point option is clicked and then select Next.

7. Click on a restore point from the list.

8. Select Next.

9. Select Next at the Confirm your restore point screen.

10. Select Yes to confirm.

11. You have to wait a bit for the recovery process to be completed. After the procedure is finished, the computer will restart.

12. After entering Windows and going to Windows, you will see the following message:

System Restore completed successfully.

Create a restore point in Windows 8

1. To open the search box in Windows 8, you can press Win+F key.

2. Input create a restore point and press Enter.

3. Select Settings.

4. Select Create a restore point.

5. It will open the System Protection tab in System Properties.

6. Click on the drive you want to create restore point.

7. Select Configure.

8. Click on Turn on system protection.

9. Select OK.

Note: If system protection is on this drive, please do not perform this step.
