Administrator Account

For the first time that you use Windows, you will need to create an account this account is an Administrative account by default. Create Password

  4. Click on the account that you want to add a password for it.
  5. Choose the Create a password option.
  6. Enter the password in the New password box.
  7. Then, re-enter your password in the Confirm new password box.
  8. Also, you can enter a password hint, which helps you to remember your password.
  9. Hit the Create password button.

Note that passwords account are case-sensitive, and capital letters are taken differently from lowercase letters.

How to Change the Account Picture?

To change or add a picture for an account, walk through the steps below:

  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start Menu.
  2. Choose the Add or remove user accounts option under the User Accounts and Family Safety section.
  3. Then, the Manage Accounts pane will pop up. Here, you can see all the existing accounts that you can manage or create a new one.

How to Set Up Parental Controls?

Windows 7 has a feature called Parental Control. This feature allows you to monitor the young person’s account and restrict some inappropriate content and applications. Also, you can control the amount of time that a user can work with their account. Parental Control can be applied to any Standard account.

You can always change Parental Control as your child gets older.

Note that you need to create a child account before you set parental control. The parental control can be set on a Standard account only, and you cannot apply it on an Administrator account.

To set up Parental Control, follow the steps below:

  1. Open Control Panel from the Start Menu.
  2. Choose the Set up parental controls for any users option under the User Accounts and Family Safety section.
  3. Select your desired account. Make sure that it is a Standard Account.
  4. Select the ON, enforce current settings option under the Parental Controls section.
  5. Now, you can limit the amount of time that they use or limit some specific applications.

How to Change Parental Control Settings?

Time Limits

You can control the amount of time that your children can use their PC with the time limit settings. To allow or block a specific time, you can click and drag from any box.

Games

You can choose which rating of games you allow to be played on your child’s account. Also, you can allow or block specific games.

To do that, first, you need to select the Yes option. Then, you can change the Game settings.

In the picture below, we selected the Everyone option. This option has the highest rating allowed. With this action, your children can play games related to Everyone or Early Childhood.

To Allow or Block Specific Application

You may not want your children to be able to use nongame programs or some financial applications such as email.

To block specific programs, walk through the steps below:

  1. Select the … (your account name) can only use the programs I allow option.
  2. Hit the Check All option.
  3. Uncheck the applications that you want to block.
