Complete Guide: How to Check GPU Temperature in Windows 7

The performance of the system will reduce by the high temperature of the GPU. It may cause the system to shut down. Therefore, we need to check the GPU temperature, but the question is how to check the GPU temperature in Windows 7. There are many ways to monitor GPU temperature. Here, in this article, we are going to tell you the ways to monitor your GPU.

Use Windows Task Manager

To check GPU with Windows task manager, follow the steps below:

  1. Hold Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open it.
  2. Select More Details in the bottom left.
  3. Select Performance tab at the top.
  4. Scroll down on the left hand side and find GPU.
  5. Click on the GPU.
  6. At the bottom of the GPU page, you can see the temperature.

Use NVIDIA GeForce Experience

GeForce Experience is the software NVIDIA which is used to monitor your GPU temperature. Go to Start MENU and launch it to get started. To monitor the temperature, follow the steps below:

  1. Access the in-game overlay settings.
  2. In the top right, select triangular icon.
  3. Select Performance on the opened window.
  4. You will find some statistics about your GPU, such as the GPU, clock, temperature, fan speed and power draw.
  5. You can click the gear icon in the bottom right to customize how information is displayed. There is no option for in application overlay. Thus, be careful about your temperature while gaming.

Use AMD Radeon Software

To monitor you GPU, there is an AMD tool, called Radeon Software. To use it, follow the steps belpw:

  1. From the Start Menu, launch this software.
  2. To monitor the temperature of the GPU, at the top left of the Radeon Software home screen, select Performance tab.
  3. You can see the GPU temperature in the bottom left.

This software can log data about your GPU IN A CSV file. If you want to monitor GPU temperature or if you want to compare how other GPU stats answer to GPU temperature, it is an easy-to-use feature.

Use MSI Afterburner

Another popular choice is MSI Afterburner to monitor GPU performance. It works with all GPUs, and it allows overclocking and other customization. Like the above tools, it can show you the information while you are in-game. Another feature of it is that it can log performance statistics like AMD Radeon Software. You can find the temperature directly on the main page.

Use EVGA Precision X1

Like Afterburner and Radeon Software, this software has basic features except that it supports NVIDIA GPUs exclusively. You can find the temperature indicator in the middle of the first page. Moreover, it supports logging temperature data to a file.

Use HWiNFO64

HWiNFO64 has a different design from Precision X1 or Afterburner. This software goes through and beyond checking the temperature of your GPU. This software has the feature that provides data about every component in your system in real-time, and also, it supports logging any metrics it can display.

The software will ask you if you want to run Summary-only or Sensors-only and then choose Run.

Find a section titled “GPU[#]:” which should have the name of your GPU temperature. There may be multiple GPUs displayed if you have a CPU with integrated graphics.

All Add-In Board (AIB) GPU manufacturers have their software in comparison to EVGA’s Precision X1 and MSI’s Afterburner. Sometimes, some companies have hardware for gamers to monitor software so that they can track the GPU’s temperature.

Use Manufacturer Website

It is a good idea to take a look at your GPU’s manufacturer and check whether there is any software for you to do the desired job. For instance, a great tool if you have a Ryzen GPU is AMD Ryzen Master because it will tell you how hot your card is and also provides some tools to overclock your GPU for better performance. There are many branded options, so make sure to check if your GPU has its dedicated software.

Monitor GPU Temperature on macOS with XRG

XRG is an information powerhouse, which gives you information about your CPU load, fan speeds, battery use, network load, and GPU temperature.

Why We Should Check the GPU Temperature?

Your system experiences a high temperature while using GPU. If your GPU experience thermal throttling, it will reduce your performance drastically. When the GPU gets hot, it will destroy the fans in your GPU cooler. It may go off if it reaches the hottest temperature. But the good news is the GPU is fixable if runs too hot. You can provide your computer a cleaning or tell you what cooling and airflow setup is optimal for your system. But, we need to find the problem first. Check your GPU from time to time to keep your system safe.

What is the Normal Temperature of a GPU?

The range of GPU is from 65 to 85 degrees Celsius or 149 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit in normal conditions. But, based on the model of your GPU and the manufacturer, the operation temps may vary.

Conclusion

Checking the GPU temperature is important. Therefore, we need to monitor the GPU temperature every time. We presented some ways and some software to check your GPU easily. How do you check the GPU Temperature? Share your ideas with us.
