How to restore a backup in Windows 8 or 8.1 system
Before performing the process of restoring a backup file, be sure to log in as an administrator.
Follow the steps below:
1. Select Search or hit the Start and C keys to open the Charm Bar.
2. Type Restore in the search box.
3. Select Restore your files with File History from the search results list.

4. In this section, the software must be loaded.
5. Search and locate for your backup and click it.
6. Select the refresh button at the bottom of the wizard to restore it.
7. The restore process should now begin. The time of the process depends on the size of your backup file.
How to delete individual backup files
You can delete individual backup files by following the steps below. In this situation, Windows 8 is using the Windows 7 File Recovery utility.
Note: This option is only available for Windows 8 users, not Windows 8.1. Users on Windows 8.1 will not have the Windows 7 File Recovery utility.
As in the steps above, first make sure you are logged in as an administrator.
1. Select Search.
2. Type Windows 7 File Recovery in the search box.
3. Select the Windows 7 File Recovery item from the search results list
4. In the Back up or restore your files screen, select Manage space.
5. In this section, the tool wizard should be displayed.
6. Select View backups.
7. Click on the backup files you don’t want.
8. Select Delete.
9. Select Delete again to confirm that you want to delete the backup files.
10. Now the deletion process begins.
11. Once the backup files are deleted, select Close.
12. Select Close again to exit the Manage Windows Backup disk space wizard.
