Section 1: Get Ready

  1. Connect your USB flash drive to your device.
  2. Go to the Start menu.
  3. Type cmd into the Windows search bar.
  4. Right-click on the first result.
  5. Choose the Run as administrator option from the menu.
  6. Once the Command Prompt window pops up, copy and paste the following command: diskpart
  7. Hit the Enter button.
  8. Then, copy and paste this command: list disk
  9. Hit Enter.
  10. Now you can find a list included with your all disks. Your USB drive can be shown as Disk 0, Disk 1, and Disk 2. In the picture below, the USB drive is listed as Disk 1.
  11. Type this command: select disk “disk number”
  12. In the above command, you should replace disk 0, disk 1, or disk 2 with the disk number part, depending on your USB flash drive number.
  13. Now, the Disk X is now the selected disk message pops up.
  14. Type the clean command and hit the Enter button.
  15. Now, you should see the DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk message.
  16. Once you have cleaned your USB drive, you need to format it.
  17. Copy and paste the select disk “the number of your USB drive” command.
  18. Hit Enter.
  19. Copy and paste this command: create partition primary
  20. Hit Enter.
  21. Type select partition 1.
  22. Type this command: active
  23. Hit the Enter button.
  24. Copy and paste the following command: format FS=NTFS

  1. Go to the Microsoft website.
  2. Download the Windows 7 SP1 ISO. Note that you need a product key that included 25 characters.
